Earlier this year, Foundation Cigar Co. announced a new event-only cigar, and starting today, fans will be able to try it.
The Primer Fábrica 1810 is a 5 3/4 x 60 box-pressed perfecto composed of a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Brazilian mata fina binder and undisclosed filler tobaccos. The cigar is packaged in three-count wooden boxes.
The cigar was created to honor the first known cigar factory in the U.S. which was established in 1810 by Roswell and Samuel Viets in Suffield, Conn. By 1830, approximately 14 million cigars were being made per year at factories in the area. Foundation’s headquarters is located in Ellington, less than 15 miles east of Suffield.
Primer Fábrica 1810 is debuting today during the 2025 Great Lakes Cigar Fest taking place in Pontiac, Mich., where attendees will be the first to experience this new release. The cigar is not being sold; instead, it will be available only during Foundation events and offered to consumers as a promotional item.
