A new release from Hooten Young is named after a former Navy SEAL turned author.
The Hooten Young Jack Carr Edition is a 6 1/2 x 52 Dominican puro made up of a corojo wrapper covering a San Andrés-seed binder—a seed that originates in Mexico—and a blend of filler tobaccos that includes piloto cubano. The cigars are being made at the Tabacalera Díaz Cabrera factory located in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Each Jack Carr Edition will have an MSRP of $20, and the cigars will be packaged in 20-count boxes. There are 500 boxes being released, for a total of 10,000 cigars.
The new release is named after Jack Carr, a retired Navy SEAL sniper who spent 20 years as a member of the Naval Special Warfare Command. He has since become a New York Times best-selling author with his 2018 novel The Terminal List, which has been adapted into a television series on Amazon Prime Video.
“Jack has been a trusted friend and collaborator for years,” said Norman Hooten, founder and president of Hooten Young, in a press release. “Our first project together, the 16-Year Warrior Proof American Whiskey, even gained national recognition on The Joe Rogan Experience. This cigar continues our shared mission: to honor legacies, tell stories, and create experiences that bring people together.”
In an email, Jon Carney told halfwheel that boxes of the Jack Carr Edition are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on Sept. 22 through retailers and on the Hooten Young website. Carney leads Bentley Tobacco | USA, which has a service agreement to manage Hooten Young’s premium cigar operation.
