The 11th and latest edition of Espinosa Premium Cigars’ Warhead Series has begun arriving at retail alongside a return to the very first cigar in the line.
The 601 La Bomba Warhead 11 is a 6 3/4 x 54 oval figurado, the first time the shape has been used for the series. It’s a blend that was designed to amplify the strength and complexity of the all-Nicaraguan blend, which is highlighted by a broadleaf wrapper.
“Warhead 11 not only delivers but continues to evolve,” said Erik Espinosa, president of Espinosa Premium Cigars, in a press release when the line was announced in early April. “This project means a lot to our team and to our fans, and we think this year’s release is something special, yet again.”
The packaging of the Warhead 11 gets a notable upgrade, as the boxes are shaped like a bomb, which the company says stays true to the line’s military-inspired presentation. They have an aluminum/metallic body with a detachable head, with the cigars going inside the bomb.
Pricing is set at $15 per cigar and $150 per box of 10. The company has not disclosed how many boxes are being produced, but said it is around 4,000 or so.
“It’s a tradition now; incredible blend, unique vitolas, and packaging that stands out,” said Hector Alfonso, master blender of Espinosa Premium Cigars, in a press release. “This year’s Warhead size is a great way to start the next ten years of this fantastic LE.”
This newest release ships alongside the first of the Warhead Re-Up Series, which revisits previous cigars in the series, with the first one to be released being the Warhead 1 Re-Up. It keeps the same size and blend info of the originals, meaning it’s a 6 1/2 x 54 box-pressed toro that uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The company said that the first Warhead “quickly made a name for itself with full-bodied strength, dense smoke, and an aggressive flavor profile.”
It also comes in the new bomb-style packaging, pricing set at $15 per cigar and $150 per box of 10. It is being rolled out in a handful of waves as the company awaits the full production to arrive.
As for the Warhead 6 Re-Up, that is scheduled to begin shipping in the next week or so as the company awaits more cigars to arrive at its warehouse in Hialeah Gardens, Fla.
All three cigars are made at the San Lotano factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.
