Drew Estate, Hetfield, and Dietrich Add Lancero Vitola to BLACKENED Line

BLACKENED Cigars, the collaboration between Metallica’s James Hetfield, BLACKENED Whiskey’s Rob Dietrich, and Drew Estate, is adding a new vitola to its lineup: the Lancero. Both the BLACKENED M81 and S84 blends will now be offered in a 7 x 40 format, marking the first time either cigar has been rolled in this size.

Limited in production, each will be packaged in 15-count boxes. Fans of the M81 will find its Maduro-forward profile—featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a Maduro binder, and Maduro fillers from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania—expressed in a more concentrated format. The S84, on the other hand, brings its Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper and filler mix of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania tobaccos into sharper focus.

“This new Lancero is a guitar solo in cigar form,” said Jonathan Drew, founder and president of Drew Estate. “The M81 Lancero slaps with rich, dark, and heavy notes, while the S84 Lancero is like a clean intro riff—smooth, creamy, and soulful—but with that metallic edge.”

Rob Dietrich added, “The Lancero format showcases the blend in a way no other size can. You get this incredible ratio of wrapper to filler, making every puff more rich, more refined. It’s raw, real, and unapologetically bold—just like BLACKENED.”

The BLACKENED Lancero M81 and S84 will begin shipping in August 2025 through Drew Diplomat Program retailers.
