Plasencia Cigars is honoring the upcoming Year of the Horse with one of its most ambitious releases yet — El Año del Caballo — a limited-edition cigar that combines cultural symbolism with high-end craftsmanship. The cigar will debut in November 2026, with just 6,000 boxes being distributed globally to select tobacconists and lounges.
Like past entries in Plasencia’s Chinese Zodiac series, El Año del Caballo pays homage to both tradition and artistry. The cigar arrives in a 7 x 58 Parejo Gordo format, highlighted by a distinctive hand-braided horse-tail cap—a unique finishing touch that requires a trio of craftsmen to complete. Each braid is formed, sealed with dual pañuelo wraps, and cured under controlled humidity to preserve its intricate structure.
“The horse embodies independence, resilience, and forward motion,” said Néstor Andrés Plasencia, fifth generation of the Plasencia family. “El Año del Caballo is more than a cigar—it is a tribute to mastery in motion. From the rare, braided finish to the power and balance of the blend, this release reflects our legacy and our relentless drive to innovate.”

The cigar is described as a medium-to-full-bodied blend that opens with creamy cacao and soft florals before developing notes of toasted wood, roasted nuts, and sun-dried raisins.
Each cigar is presented in a collector-grade red lacquer box detailed with gold accents and an embossed braid motif. The design draws inspiration from the Flying Horse of Gansu, a Han dynasty bronze sculpture symbolizing strength, grace, and balance — the very qualities Plasencia seeks to capture in this limited release.
El Año del Caballo carries an MSRP of $59 per cigar or $590 for a 10-count box, solidifying its position among the brand’s most collectible creations
