The next cigar release in the partnership between the Buffalo Trace distillery and Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) is heading to stores this week.
It’s the Buffalo Trace Limited Edition 2025 is a 6 x 50 toro that uses a habano 2000 wrapper over a Dominican criollo 98 binder and Dominican corojo, HVA and piloto cubano fillers. Notably, the binder is aged in barrels from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Ky.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $14.99 and the cigars come packaged in boxes of 10, which includes a Buffalo Trace coin.
This release is distributed by Meier & Dutch, which is best known as the wholesale arm of Cigars International. This means that it will be sold through STG’s own retail channels, like Cigars International and Thompson Cigar, but also at independent retailers.
Over the last five years, STG and Sazerac Co., which owns Buffalo Trace, have released more than a dozen cigars that have used either Buffalo Trace branding or branding from whiskies that are made at Buffalo Trace, like Eagle Rare and Weller. Some of these cigars have combined a cigar brand and a whiskey brand—like the Weller by Cohiba series—while others have been standalone branding projects like this.
