Tabacalera Caballeros, a small factory in the Dominican Republic, has announced its latest release.
The J16 is a box-pressed 6 1/2 x 56 double toro, a follow-up to the J15. It uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed binder and Dominican criollo and cubano ligero fillers. The company says these cigars were rolled two years ago and have been aging ever since. A press release says the blend is medium-full with flavors of “pepper, plum, chocolate, and nutmeg.”
Each cigar has an MSRP of $13 and the cigars are packaged in boxes of 20. It is a limited edition, though the company has not stated how many boxes were made. It began shipping on Monday, Dec. 1.
“As we grow, our focus remains the same: to support our retail partners and deliver cigars that customers return for again and again,” said Marco Accardi, co-founder of Tabacalera Caballeros, in a press release. “This is an exciting moment for our brand, and we’re just getting started.”
Tabacalera Caballeros is named after Santiago de los Caballeros, the Dominican city that is home to many of the country’s most prominent factories. The company was founded in 2022 by Accardi and Cristian Quintana.
