Among the smaller cigar companies that have been making a bit of a name for themselves in recent years, Definition Cigars is one that has seemingly stood out.
If you’re not familiar with Definition Cigars, the company was launched by Jamond Hackley in 2019 and is based in Dallas. Beyond its portfolio of cigars, the company became known for its bands, which, instead of being traditional paper bands, are a distinctive design that uses a thin gauge fabric in various colors.
This year, Definition Cigars added to its portfolio with a pair of new cigars that were shown off at the 2026 PCA Convention & Trade Show in mid-April. The first, Pi5ot, was inspired by Hackley’s love of basketball, while this cigar, One13, which is a reference to the address of his grandmother’s house, where he lived as a child.

The band is absolutely fascinating due to its uniqueness and the intricate threadwork that feels almost in motion due to the curves of the thicker portions. All three cigars have a very dark brown wrapper, each with a decent number of veins and a slight change in color at the seam lines that make them visible once I start looking for them. One cigar catches my attention for having more oiliness than the other two; that’s not to say they didn’t, but this one just feels different. The first and third cigars are solidly firm without a lot of give. The second cigar is interesting as it feels firm front to back, but there’s some give side to side. The aroma from the foot of the first cigar is surprisingly mild, and while some pepper eventually hops in the mix, it’s fairly tame. The second cigar is more forthcoming with a cool chocolate syrup aroma mixed with just a little bit of coffee flavoring; not actual coffee, but whatever it is that ends up in coffee-flavored ice cream, for instance. The third is the most confounding, as there’s a thickness to the aroma, but I don’t get much definition, nor do I get any pepper. There’s a bit of that coffee flavor, but it’s rather muted. The cold draw is just the slightest bit firm on the first cigar, and the flavor is mellow, offering a chocolate brownie flavor. The second cigar is better as airflow is smooth and easy, neither too open nor too loose. While the draw is better, the flavor is even mellower; I get some of the brownie for a brief moment before it turns to a perfume-like floral flavor. The third cigar’s airflow is also quite good, while the flavor meshes the brownie and coffee with a bit of creaminess to create a cool, rich, coffee shop specialty drink flavor.
The Definition One13 starts with a dry but decently rich earth flavor at the base and some damp wood coming out of that. Retrohales are light and have just a little bit of pepper mixed into a bright, chalky sensation. Those retrohales begin to liven up as black pepper comes along, and I can sense the profile starting to evolve as well. There is some creaminess up next, though with the earth and now some rich chocolate, it’s more a change to the body of the smoke than to the flavor. Black pepper is the next component to change, increasing its presence on the finish and leaving a lasting tingle on my taste buds and beyond. I can’t tell whether the first part of each puff has diminished or is just starting to be overshadowed by the finish, but the relationship between start and finish is also changing. I’m also beginning to pick up a bit of sweet fragrance in the aroma. The flavor is a rich medium-plus, the body of the smoke is around medium, and, thus far, nicotine strength is mild. Construction is very good.
At the start of the second third, the second third of the Definition One13 is a little creamier and I get a bit more of a thick, dairy cream flavor, rather than just a change to the body and texture of the smoke. Retrohales are fantastic with the tempered amount of pepper and how it accents the flavor without overwhelming it or my nostrils. The flavor seems to have settled into a very enjoyable spot, stewing together its core flavors of earth, chocolate, black pepper and a bit of creaminess into a rich sensation that coats and tingles my taste buds. As a result, there aren’t many changes in the profile, but I’m certainly not complaining as once the burn line hits the midway point, the profile is really dialed in and remains so through the rest of this section. Flavor starts around medium-plus and settles closer to medium, body is more consistently medium and a touch thinner than earlier, while strength sits at medium-minus. The draw, burn line, and smoke production are all very good. There are some slight combustion issues emerging, but none that warrant a touch-up or relight.
The start of the Definition One13’s final third shows that the profile isn’t done evolving, as after a pretty stable second third, I get more dry earth and wood, both of which liven up the profile and provide a broader stimulation of my taste buds. This change proves to be the start of the cigar developing a little more edge to the flavor, at first due to what tastes like a bit of char on the wood, but then it evolves, and I can’t immediately put words to what’s causing the shift. It’s still very enjoyable, though if forced to choose, I’d take the second third’s profile. That edginess continues to increase, but never overtakes the profile. That said, in the first cigar, it does detract enough to show up on the scoresheet. It brings the flavor intensity up to medium-full, while the body of the smoke sits around medium but feels like it’s at its thinnest. Strength has nudged closer to medium, but I don’t think it’s having much of an effect on my system. As alluded to in the second third, construction issues become more apparent in this section, and I need to touch up the first and third cigars. The draw, smoke production and burn line remain very good.
Final Notes
- I’m glad that the bands all could slide off, as I couldn’t figure out a way to separate the ends like a traditional paper band.
- The heads of the cigars were dry and brittle, with two cracking upon cutting to the point where I needed to glue them back down.
- Charlie Minato reviewed the Definition Anillo in February 2026, and like this cigar, it has a very intriguing band.
- Brooks Whittington, meanwhile, covered Definition Cigars’ booth at the 2026 PCA Convention & Trade Show, where the One13 debuted.
- I didn’t find the Definition One13 to offer much nicotine strength until the final third, and even then, it seemed to be more of a tease than an actual delivery.
- The cigars for this review were purchased by halfwheel.

- The company lists these as a 6 x 52 toro. The numbers above are the measurements we found for the three cigars used for this review.
- Final smoking time was two hours and 30 minutes on average.

Overall Score
I believe that this was my first time smoking anything from Definition Cigars, and I have to say that I am pleasantly impressed. All three cigars had a very enjoyable and agreeable profile, and at its best, the profile is thick and complex in the same way a hearty stew can be. The progression of flavors is good as well; it’s a fairly simple start that quickly adds both layers of flavor and body to the smoke. Construction was about as good as I can expect, with only minimal issues at the very end of the cigar. I’m certainly intrigued to both revisit this cigar at some point as well as explore the company’s other offerings.
