Maya Selva Launches Timón, A Value-Priced Honduran Puro

Maya Selva Cigars has launched Timón, a new line that is designed to make Honduran cigars more accessible to everyday smokers.

The Timón blend is all-Honduran and designed to showcase the country’s terroir, though the company has not disclosed specifics about the blend or the regions of the country in which the tobacco is grown. The line is produced at Maya Selva Cigars’ factory in Danlí, Honduras.

“With Timón, we wanted to make handmade cigars more accessible,” explains Maya Selva. “Timón has an authentic Honduran taste that is easy to enjoy. It is a cigar designed for daily rituals, for those seeking a genuine, expertly hand-rolled cigar without compromising on value.”

A press release noted that Timón offers an accessible entry point for people new to cigars or Honduran smokes, while also serving as an affordable, everyday option for more seasoned cigar smokers.

It is offered in three sizes, ranging from the 3 1/2 x 46 Short to the 5 x 50 Robusto. Pricing is designed to be between €3 and €4 and the cigars are offered in packs of five.

The Timón line is currently available in France, where it debuted on Sept. 21, and in Austria, where it debuted on Sept. 29. It will be released in Germany on Oct. 1, with a worldwide release planned for 2027.

Correction: The company originally listed the robusto vitola as being 5 x 60; it informed halfwheel of the error and the story has been corrected to reflect it measuring 5 x 50.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and the G-League’s Valley Suns. I was previously the PA announcer for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League, and Goodyear Ballpark, spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I’m a voiceover artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
