This (brick) house is on fire.
J.C. Newman has announced that its 2025 exclusive for the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) is a new Brick House. Specifically, it’s the Brick House Is On Fire TAA Exclusive—yes, that is the name—a 6 x 50 toro. Blend-wise, it uses the standard Brick House blend: an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Notably, it has an uncovered foot, meaning the bottom of the cigar has the filler leaves exposed without the wrapper or binder covering them. J.C. Newman does not sell a 6 x 50 Brick House, instead, the Brick House Toro measures 6 x 52.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $12 and production is limited to 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars. It was expected to ship in December but is shipping to stores on Monday, Nov. 24.
“When you light The Brick House is on Fire, the cigar ignites in flames,” said Drew Newman, owner of J.C. Newman, in a press release. “The Brick House is on Fire’s wrapper and binder are cut back to expose the filler leaves. We are excited to share this special cigar with TAA members.”
The TAA is a membership group, around 80 retailers and approximately 40 manufacturers, that gathers annually to discuss issues facing the industry and retailers, as well as to have its annual trade show, a unique event that works on a group buying format in order to secure exclusive deals for these generally high-volume merchants.
During the event—which is taking place this week at Casa de Campo in La Romana, the Dominican Republic—the organization holds two selling events, one known as the Dream Machine, where the retailers collectively order to secure larger discounts, while the other is a more traditional trade show. Typically, around a dozen manufacturers release new exclusive cigars for the retail members of the organization under the TAA Exclusive Series Program (ESP) banner. Those manufacturers agree to give a portion of the proceeds to the organization, a minimum of 50 cents per cigar.
Casa Carrillo, CLE, Crowned Heads, Ferio Tego, J.C. Newman, Knuckle Sandwich Cigars, La Flor Dominicana and Plasencia have announced their TAA 2025 ESP releases.
