Casa Carrillo Cigars is set to expand its Encore Black line with the introduction of the Bulwarks, a new 6 x 58 Perfecto that will officially debut at the Great Lakes Cigar Festival on July 26 in Pontiac, Michigan.
The Bulwarks follows the 2023 launch of the first Encore Black vitola (5 3/8 x 52) and aims to offer a more expansive take on the blend. The cigar features a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, a San Andrés viso binder, and fillers from Nicaragua’s Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa regions. Each tobacco leaf undergoes an 18-month hand fermentation process, followed by three years of aging and six months of post-roll rest.
“Following the success of the first Encore Black vitola, we knew we wanted to expand the line with something that delivered a fuller, more immersive expression of the blend,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. “The Bulwarks does exactly that.”
Perez-Carrillo emphasized the development of the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper as central to the new size, noting that the larger format “offers a slower burn and more pronounced transitions that really show what this blend can do.”
The Encore Black Bulwarks will be available in 10-count boxes with an MSRP of $21 per cigar. Shipments to select retailers are expected to begin shortly after the festival debut, with a broader release planned in the future.
