Cavalier Genève is closing out its first year of Project Broadleaf with a final 2025 release, the Project Broadleaf Cowrider. The cigar debuts this week and marks the fourth—and last—installment of the rotating Broadleaf series for the year. Unlike previous entries, Cowrider arrives dressed in a white-and-gold band to signify the end of the inaugural cycle.
Project Broadleaf has served as Cavalier’s response to the ongoing challenge of securing Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco, with the company choosing to release four distinct blends annually—each one a one-off size and profile centered around the same wrapper. Cowrider takes its inspiration from founder Sébastien Decoppet’s home country of Switzerland, leaning playfully into the imagery of pastoral cow-covered hillsides.
Cowrider comes in a single size, a 6.5″ x 50 Parejo, packaged in 10-count gold metallic foil bundles. The blend features:
- Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
- Binder: Connecticut Shade
- Filler: Jamastran, Indonesia, Estelí
As with each Project Broadleaf entry, the blend is unique to this specific release. The wrapper used here has undergone more than three years of fermentation—with an additional year of rest in bale—bringing the tobacco to over five years of age. The MSRP is $177 per 10-count pack.
“This last release of the Project Broadleaf series for 2025 was inspired by my country of origin, Switzerland,” said Decoppet. “As with all other Project Broadleaf releases, the cigars are unique, blend wise, but also from an artwork perspective. We look forward to circling back to these releases next year, but for now, we are pleased to offer this last iteration for 2025.”
All four Project Broadleaf releases are expected to become annual, limited offerings moving forward, with possible blend adjustments over time. Production takes place at Cavalier’s Fabrica Centroamericana de Tabaco in Honduras.
