Baccarat, Davidoff, Elie Bleu, La Galera, Maya Selva, Oliva, Plasencia, S.T. Dupont, VegaFina and Villiger have announced Year of the Horse-themed products. Other companies are likely to announce new Year of the Horse products ahead of Chinese New Year, which takes place on Feb. 17, 2026.
Tabacalera Palma’s approach to its Chinese zodiac-themed releases has been a bit different than most cigar companies. Sure, there’s a read and gold painted cigar box—more on that below—but the company has offered its cigars with included accessories, something that will continue for 2026.
The La Galera Year of the Horse Limited Edition 2026 is a 5 x 56 double robusto that uses a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper over a Dominican olor binder and four Dominican fillers: criollo 98, olor, pelo de oro and piloto cubano.
It comes inside an ornate box, where a dozen cigars are separated into four different compartments that are pulled out from the box. The design is a fusion of Chinese and Dominican elements, with horses abound.
For example—the red and gold colors symbolize luck and wealth in China—and the handles to pull the drawers are palm trees, a nod to both the Dominican Republic and the Tabacalera Palma factory.
If that wasn’t enough, the box itself is a two-part design. The cigars are on top, while the base includes three accessories.
The accessories—a cutter, lighter and ashtray—keep with the red and gold horse theme.
Each box has an MSRP of $690, which includes 12 cigars and the three accessories. Production is limited to 2,026 numbered boxes, which are expected to ship in mid-January.
