Lure Cigars has announced the release of a new limited-edition cigar named “The Bluefish,” created in tribute to Lieutenant Chris Watson, a recently retired police officer who served the Dothan Police Department for 31 years. In addition to honoring his long-standing commitment to law enforcement, the project aims to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), which Watson was diagnosed with following his retirement.
The idea originated from Stephen Frank, a retailer and friend of both Watson and Lure Cigars founder Lou Cross. The concept quickly evolved into a charitable initiative, with Lure committing to donate 100% of the proceeds from the cigar to the Alabama Chapter of the ALS Association. The funds will support ALS research and the development of new therapies.
“The Bluefish” is a 6″ x 54 Sublime vitola featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, an Estelí binder, and fillers from Estelí and Jalapa, Nicaragua, along with Mexican San Andrés ligero. The blend is described as medium-full in strength, offering flavor notes of espresso, leather, baking spices, and a peppery retrohale.
Only 2,000 cigars have been produced, with an MSRP of $15 each. They will be available starting August 2nd at Boll Weevil Fine Cigars in Enterprise, AL, and The Humidor Fine Cigars in Dothan, AL. Each 10-count pack includes Boveda humidification.
Lure Cigars are manufactured by La Tabacaria Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua.
