Perez-Carrillo Encore Black Bulwarks Debuting Next Week

Casa Carrillo is adding a new figurado to its Perez-Carrillo Encore Black line, a 6 x 58 perfecto called Bulwarks.

The line uses the same blend as the original Perez-Carrillo Encore Black: a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés viso binder, and a filler that uses tobacco from Nicaragua’s Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa regions. The company calls the result a full-bodied, medium-full strength cigar offering layered complexity and the deep, nuanced flavor that defines the Encore Black.

Each Perez-Carrillo Encore Black Bulwarks has an MSRP of $21 per cigar or $210 per box of 10 cigars.

Previously, it has only been offered in a a 5 3/8 x 52 robusto.

“Following the success of the first Encore Black vitola, we knew we wanted to expand the line with something that delivered a fuller, more immersive expression of the blend,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr. in a press release. “The Bulwarks does exactly that. The Connecticut broadleaf wrapper takes center stage—given the time it needs to develop its rich, complex character. We paired it with a San Andrés viso binder and select fillers from Estelí, Jalapa, and Condega to highlight and complement the broadleaf’s bold profile. It’s a sincere effort from our family to yours—continuing what we love doing most: creating cigars with heart, heritage, and craftsmanship.”

The Encore Black Bulwarks will make its official debut Saturday, July 26, at the Great Lakes Cigar Festival in Pontiac, Mich., where attendees will be the first to experience this new release. The cigars will ship to other retailers shortly thereafter.
