Procigar 2026: Feb. 15-20 | halfwheel

Procigar, the Dominican Republic’s most prominent cigar manufacturers’ association, has announced the dates for its next festival: Feb. 15, 20, 2026.

These dates are not surprising as Procigar typically takes place the week after Valentine’s Day. As has been the case for previous festivals, there are two parts to Procigar 2026: a Sunday-Tuesday portion that takes place in La Romana, the eastern part of the island; and the main portion, which takes place Wednesday-Friday in Santiago de los Caballeros, the area home to most of the Dominican Republic’s cigar industry.

Most Procigar attendees will only attend the portion in Santiago, but some will sign up for the optional first part, which exists because Tabacalera de García—the Dominican factory behind Altadis U.S.A.’s non-Cuban H. Upmann, Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta brands—is in La Romana. During those two nights, guests will stay at the Casa de Campo resort, which is home to three Pete Dye-designed golf courses: Dye Fore, the Links and Teeth of the Dog.

After visiting Tabacalera de García on Tuesday, guests will board buses to head to Santiago to join the rest of the event. Officially, the Santiago portion kicks off Tuesday night with a welcome party at the Residence Inn by Marriott.

From there, the next three days will follow a similar schedule. When they register for the event, guests will choose between around a half dozen tours each day, visting a cigar farm and/or factory. Guests will get picked up in the morning via bus and will spend the day, which includes lunch, with that tour before returning to their hotels prior to dinner. In addition, there are seminars and other smaller events throughout the day.

Procigar is more than just a cigar festival, it’s actually a group of most of the prominent Dominican cigar manufacturers. In addition to hosting the Procigar festival, the group works with the Dominican government and governments around the world to promote Dominican cigars. Procigar members include:

  • Arnold André
  • De Los Reyes
  • General Cigar Dominicana (General Cigar Co./STG)
  • La Aurora
  • La Flor Dominicana
  • PDR Cigars
  • Quesada
  • Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia (Arturo Fuente)
  • Tabacalera de García (Altadis U.S.A./Tabacalera USA)
  • Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. (E.P. Carrillo)
  • Tabacalera Palma (La Galera)
  • Tabadom Holding, Inc. (Davidoff)

Typically, each tour includes a visit to just one company, though some tours will include multiple companies. More than half of the companies will host multiple tours, though Arnold André, De Los Reyes, PDR Cigars and Quesada will host just one tour.

Each night is a different event, though all should be familiar to those who have attended previous Procigar festivals. Wednesday is the welcome dinner at Parque Central Santiago, Thursday is the White Party at Santiago’s most famous monument, and Friday is the gala dinner and auction at Centro Español.

The cost to attend the Santiago portion is $2,500, which includes events, meals, alcohol, cigars and local transportation, but neither a hotel room nor airfare. Procigar has secured room blocks at two hotels: the aforementioned Residence Inn and the more upscale Hotel Santiago, which has an Arturo Fuente-branded cigar lounge.

Registration is open and those who register by Aug. 31 will receive a 10 percent discount.
